Enercon, one of the world's leading companies in the wind energy sector, looked to RACE for the refurbishment of two industrial facilities located in Viana do Castelo.
In 2007 RACE installed the entire ventilation and smoke extraction system, the fire network, compressed air net-work, power supply, access and security management for the various factory production buildings and offices.
After 11 years, RACE is once more collaborating with Enercon to refurbish its facilities, in the design and delivery of multiple systems, such as ventilation and heating, HVAC in the social areas, BMS, the vacuum system, extending the existing gas network, hydraulic networks, sanitation network, electrical system and fire networks.
In the ventilation and heating system, it is worth highlighting the dimensioning and compatibilization with the in-stallation of a central control point for heating, composed of three boilers with a total thermal power of approxi-mately 1050 kW, which will be responsible for feeding the warehouse air treatment units as well as the units on the mould manufacturing line.
RACE is also responsible for the design and installation of eight new air treatment units with heat recovery and specialized technical features to withstand the site’s aggressive maritime environment.
Together, these eight units are responsible for moving a flow of 200,000 m3/h of fresh air.
With a view to improving energy efficiency, a BMS system was designed to manage and record all energy consump-tion in the factory complex, all of which was centralized to the same control point.
