Sustained reduction in electricity costs
In partnership with RACE, SONAE MC integrated the project designed by Trevo geared to the sustained reduction in electricity costs throughout the Sonae stores in the country.
The SISTAVAC technical team developed and implemented a mechanism which identifies the ideal operating point of the cooling system as a means of maximizing the efficiency of the same, resulting in a lower consumption of energy.
The solution created, which has been implemented in 142 stores, features a wide range of operation, ensuring, for a fraction of the value, the optimization of the entire cooling system of a large supermarket in a dynamic manner.
The Trevo project involved adapting the cooling facility control systems in the different stores to automatic regulation, taking the different climatic conditions and the needs of the cooling units into account.
The cooling units were equipped with a device which transmits more reliable information on the temperature of the food to the cooling system thermostats, thereby saving energy and guaranteeing the integrity of the food.
The execution of the Trevo project enabled Sonae to reinforce its energy efficiency and reduce its ecological footprint, resulting in savings of € 4 million (2010 to 2013). Sonae invested € 4,500,000 in the form of a 5-year ROI (Return on Investment).
